On April 20th 2011, WEST NYC played host to The God MC, RAKIM!!!!!!! One of hip hop’s pioneers, Rakim performed at WEST NYC to launch a collaborative t shirt. WEST NYC x MILKCRATE x RAKIM!

On 4.20 NYC get ready for one of the dopest events to hit streetwear. The Godly Collaboration features the one and only legend of the game: GOD MC RAKIM celebrating the launch of the limited edition collaboration tee shirt with Milkcrate Athletics, Aaron LaCrate and West NYC. Rakim’s lyrical style laid the blueprint for east coast rap as we know it. He is know for setting a higher standard of lyricism in hip hop as well as being an early streetwear pioneer. Rakim was swag way before swag. He is a style icon and this collaboration represents 3 generations on street style. This Janette Beckman photograph captures the Golden Era Rakim donning his classic iconic stance in stark black and white quality. This collector’s edition tee shirt is a must have and not to be missed. Aaron LaCrate held down the turntables as Rakims DJ at the historic gig held at Harlems Apollo Theater, and numerous others shows. Aaron has also produced and recently released the official remix of “Euphoria” on his seminal Milkcrate Records imprint, featuring Busta, Jada, and Styles P. This project combines fashion & music hosted at the upper west sides freshest boutique, WEST NYC.

HOT 97′s own, DJ Peter Rosenberg played host to this years Summer Jam 2010 last Sunday at the New Meadowlands Stadium. 55,000 people turned out to see artists like Drake, Gucci, Juelz, Ludacris amongst a cast of others. Rosenbergs outfit was on point as he sported a WEST NYC T and a pair of box fresh Nike Air Max 1 OG’s in White/Blue…….

On Thursday May 20th, WEST and Ricky Powell teamed up to launch its limited T Shirt collection with a party. Shout out to FRESHNESS for covering the event, and to the 300 plus that turned out and supported the cause! Watch FILMWONDER’S video below!
